I’m beginning to think “Dancing with the Stars” might just be a little cursed. There’s been on-air fainting spells and an arm injury in previous seasons and this year: Kim Kardashian hurt her foot just before she was announced as a contestant, Karina Smirnoff sprained her ankle during a dress rehearsal before the season started, and Jeffrey Ross suffered a scratched cornea when his partner Edyta Sliwinska accidentally dealt him a glancing blow during rehearsal.
Now Olympic Volleyball gold medalist, Misty May-Treanor, is out of the competition entirely, due to injuries she suffered on Friday October 3rd. Brook Burke spoke on Misty condition during an interview with L.A.’s 104.3 FM radio:
“It’s such a sad situation. She did hurt her Achilles tendon. I don’t know if she tore it or ruptured it. She’s out of the competition. Just like that, it’s over for her. The sad thing…this is her jumping mechanism. We’re all really concerned for her. She may be having surgery this week. We don’t know yet. It’s such a bummer. She heard a pop, so it’s really serious.”
Here’s hoping the doctors manage to do something for the Olympic Gold medalist. I’m sure Misty’s fans will be sending her well wishes as they tune into tonight’s show; though I imagine Cheryl Burke will have the privilege of consoling the volleyball champions partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
